Cala Major

Cala Major, located just 5 kilometers west of Palma, is one of the most accessible beaches on the island. This crescent-shaped beach offers golden sand, clear blue waters, and a variety of services, making it a popular destination for both locals and tourists. If you go on a windy day you can spot some surfers. The beach can get pretty busy in summer and the weekends because locals and tourists will come together to enjoy the vibe of Cala Major.

Cala Nova

Just a short drive from Cala Major (2 min), at the port you will find Cala Nova. Upon arrival you will not see the beach directly because you have to go down the stairs to access this small pretty local beach.

As the beach is not so big it’s already crowded with 20 people. In this case you continue your walk to the left where you have more place to put your towel and go for a swim. This beach is really small and local, so please don’t leave any trash behind; always everywhere take your plastic, crystal, papers, everything with you. Don’t leave any trash at any beach.

Next to Cala Nova you can find the Port with amazing yachts. The restaurant offers you good food and a stunning view.

On the other side of the beach you can find another restaurant, Mojo Beach where you can enjoy the football games and rugby matches live on TV.

Platja Buguenvil (Platja Cas Català)

This beach is also a very small beach and can get pretty crowded. This beach is very family friendly and there is an amazing restaurant ; Bugambilia next to the water. Enjoy their homemade paella. Don’t forget to book a table here as it can get very busy.

Its compact size makes it an ideal spot for a leisurely day of sunbathing. If you don’t want to be surrounded by families with a lot of children we don’t recommend going here.

Cala Comtesa

Just a short drive from Cala Major (2 min), at the port you will find Cala Nova. Continuing along the coastline, we arrive at Cala Comtesa, a serene and less-developed beach. This beach offers golden sand and calm waters. The beach is sheltered by rocky outcrops and lush vegetation, giving it an intimate feel despite its growing popularity.

Cala Comtesa is ideal for those who want to enjoy a day by the sea. In the weekend and high season this beach is very crowded so come early in the morning to find a good sport and consider to visit another beach.

Before you go to another beach you can have something to eat in the restaurant upstairs. They also get pretty busy so don’t forget to book a table from before.

With crystal-clear waters, this small but charming beach provides a perfect escape. The beach is bordered by rugged cliffs, and its unspoiled surroundings make it a haven for nature lovers.

These beaches are all very easy to find. You can take bus 4 at Plaça España in Palma de Mallorca and this bus will bring you to all of the beaches in the south west of Palma. (untill Illetes, all the beaches after Illetes you will have to take another bus).
