Mallorca hosts several enchanting Christmas markets, offering a festive atmosphere with local crafts, seasonal food, and traditional Mallorcan products. Here are some of the most popular Christmas markets on the island.

1. Palma Christmas Market

Get into the festive spirit at Palma’s annual Christmas Fair.

Palma switches on its tasteful Christmas lights towards the end of November. You’ll find twinkling stars around palm trees and sparkling baubles lining the main avenues. It sets the scene for Palma’s Christmas markets which provide festive cheer with its smells, flavours and tempting gifts.

The market at Plaza Mayor is usually the first to open and this year runs until 7th of January. A week later Plaza España and La Rambla also fill with stalls selling a tempting array of original goods. Ceramic, glassware, handmade jewelry and leather bags demonstrate the creativity and scope of Mallorca’s artisan scene.

Palma’s Christmas market is the largest on the island, featuring a magical atmosphere with Christmas decorations, toys, and seasonal treats like turrón (nougat) and ensaimadas (traditional pastries). You can also enjoy live music, street performances, and festive lights around the city.

Most of the stalls are found around Plaza Mayor, La Rambla, Via Roma, Plaza de España and Plaza de la Porta Pintada.

There are also ‘Betlems’ (Nativity scenes) all around the town centre, the main one located in front of Palma’s town hall at Plaça Cort.

Plaza Espana is filled with carousel’s and other thrill seeking rides for the little ones.

2. Alcúdia Christmas Market

This charming medieval town hosts a traditional Christmas market with a historic backdrop. Stalls sell artisanal crafts, handmade gifts, local food and wine. There are also fun activities for children, like a small ice skating rink and a visit from Santa Claus.

The northern town of Alcudia celebrates Christmas from the beginning of December to the beginning of January with lots of events.

Key events of the festive season in Alcudia for 2024 promise a delightful experience for visitors and locals alike. Highlights include the charming Christmas Market in Alcudia Town on December 7th and another in Port d’Alcudia on December 14th. Adding to the holiday cheer are enchanting carol concerts, making the season truly magical.

A New Year’s Eve party will take place on December 31st by the town hall, with live music and DJs. The Three Kings parade will happen on January 5th.

3. Santanyí Christmas Market

Santanyí’s Christmas market is set in the town’s picturesque main square, with artisan stalls selling handmade products, jewelry, art, and local food. The charming ambiance is enhanced by the beautiful surrounding architecture, making it a perfect place for a leisurely stroll.

The Santanyi Christmas Market takes place on December 14.

The 15th of December you can visit the Christmas Market in Calonge (Santanyi).

4. Calvià Christmas Market

Christmas activities begin with the traditional Christmas Market in Santa Ponsa, marking the start of almost four weeks of festivities. It will take place at the Polideportivo de Santa Ponsa between Friday 6 and Sunday 8 December.

In Santa Ponça, the Christmas market awaits you again this year at the El Molí de Calvià fairground.

From 23 November to 15 December, the “Mercadillo de Navidad” offers a colorful program, especially for children: a large LEGO tent, craft activities and decorating Christmas trees provide fun.

There is also a flea market and atmospheric Christmas decorations from England, as well as live music from a German band.

At the Paguera auditorium, enjoy a Christmas Gala on Sunday, December 15, a circus show with rhythmic juggling on Saturday, December 21, and the “Dance Experience” performance by Compañía Ibérica de Danza on Sunday, December 29.

The Municipal Music Band will present a Christmas Concert at Sa Societat in Calvia on Sunday, December 22.

The Parc de Nadal, held at the Galatzó Sports Centre from December 27 to 30, offers children games, attractions, craft workshops, and musical shows. Admission is 2 euros per person, or 6 euros per family. This year’s proceeds benefit the Duchenne Association in the Balearic Islands, supporting research to improve life for those affected by Duchenne, including three-year-old Lleó Páez from Son Ferrer. Hours are 4pm to 8pm on December 27 and 10am to 2pm – 4pm to 8pm on December 28, 29 and 30.

Young residents of Calvia can enjoy their own “last night” celebration with a pre-bell ringing event at Es Generador on Friday, December 20 from 7pm to 1am.

The Hidrobal Sant Silvestre Calvianera, a beloved and festive New Year’s Eve race on the island, will take place on December 31 at 5 pm at the Magaluf athletics track. Participants can enjoy chocolate and ensaimadas and are encouraged to come in fancy dress.

Ring in the New Year with an unforgettable celebration at the Galatzó Sports Centre! Starting at 12.30am and lasting into the early morning, the party will feature a mix of popular 80s and 90s hits along with current favorites for all ages. A 3D photo booth will be available to capture memorable moments, and, as with last year, shuttle buses will be provided for easy access to the event.

The Christmas season concludes with the arrival of the Three Wise Men on January 5 in Palmanova.

Arriving by boat at 6pm, they’ll parade along Passeig de la Mar, delighting children with magic and cheer.

5. Pueblo Español Christmas Market

Pueblo Español in Palma is transformed into a fairytale setting for a very special Christmas market. Surrounded by detailed replicas of famous Spanish buildings, a unique atmosphere is created that makes this market a highlight. The absolute highlight: every day at 18:00, snow cannons conjure up a wintry atmosphere – a magical experience not just for children.

The Christmas Market at Pueblo Español in Mallorca is a festive highlight, running from November 28 to December 22.

It transforms into a winter wonderland with dazzling lights, vibrant decorations, and over 100 artisan stalls offering unique handcrafted gifts like ceramics, textiles, and jewelry. Visitors can indulge in international and traditional treats such as paella, churros, and mulled wine while enjoying live music, carol singing, and dance performances. A ticket includes a complimentary Glühwein or hot chocolate. The market is open from 12pm to 11pm. Open days: November 28, 29, 30, and December 1, 5, 6, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14, 15, 19, 20, 21, and 22.

6. Son Amar Christmas Market

From November 30 to December 12 – always from Thursday to Sunday – the House of Son Amar becomes a Christmas theme park. Immerse yourself in the Christmas atmosphere and enjoy a varied program of activities with a traditional arts and crafts market. There is plenty of entertainment for young and old, including a large ice skating rink, daily performances of “It’s Christmas” with the artists from the shows “Exhibit II” and “Ohalá”, a visit to Santa Claus’ cave and, of course, plenty to eat and drink!

The Son Amar Christmas Market features a variety of stalls with local handicrafts, artisanal products, seasonal treats, and holiday decorations. Visitors can enjoy the Christmas atmosphere, shop for unique gifts, and experience the festive spirit.

Santa’s come to Palma ➡ Saturday 14 December

Linedance Balear is organising the annual Christmas BIM (Ball Important a Mallorca) on Saturday 14 December at 6pm. This spectacular gathering is expected to welcome over a thousand participants, all dressed as Santa Claus at the Paseo del Borne in Palma. Don’t miss out on the merriest event of the season! Christmas market and charity kitchen ➡ Saturday, November 30 to Sunday, December 1st

As every year, the Christmas Market with the Charity Kitchen by Abuelas en Acción is here, thanks to the incredible effort of this wonderful group of patrons, all in support of the people served by the Nazaret Foundation. Located at their headquarters on November 30 and December 1 for the market from 11am to 6pm and on December 17 for the raffle at 6pm!

Celebrate Santa Lucia in Palma’s Cathedral ➡ Friday, December 13

For a few hours, Palma’s Cathedral will be transported to the icy lands of Scandinavia. In front of more than 1,400 people, the students of the Swedish School of Mallorca will hold their traditional concert of Saint Lucia, the Christian martyr born in Syracuse at the end of the 3rd century, a recital that marks the start of the Christmas festivities. Every December 13, a concert is organised in the schools which has been held for more than 25 years. First they did it in the Plaça de Cort and, since 2017, when the school reached half a century, they have held the recital inside the church. Santa Lucia is an extremely important day across Scandinavia and in other countries.

Port Adriano Winter Park ➡ December 20 to January 7

Port Adriano’s Christmas Winter Park offers fun for all ages. Enjoy skating on Mallorca’s largest ecological ice rink (300m²) or glide down a giant 3-meter-high, 30-meter-long slide. Entry and rentals are free. Open daily from 12pm to 8pm (4pm closure on December 24 and 31), the park also features food stalls and festive visits from Father Christmas and King Melchor.

Queen’s College Christmas Fair ➡ Friday, November 29

The Queen’s College Christmas Fair will be taking place on Friday 29 November from 3pm to 7pm. They will be raising funds for Valencia as well as ‘proyecte-nana’ and Aldeas Infantiles. There will be coffee & cakes, international food stalls, cupcakes & cookies, drinks, hot dogs, games, face painting, Guess the name of the Teddy, Christmas tombola, toys & books, Spin the Wheel, Golden Spin the Well and Father Christmas will be arriving at 5pm.

The Christmas Market in Puerto Portals is set for December. With over forty charming wooden stalls adorned with festive lights and fir trees, the market brings the true essence of Christmas to the port.
